Jacqui has been writing since 2006, producing short stories, flash fiction and poetry.  In 2007 she began studying with the Open University, passing their Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing courses with Distinction, earning a Diploma in Literature and Creative Writing, a Certificate in Humanities and, in 2012, graduating with a BA (Hons) Humanities with Creative Writing, First-class.  Since September 2012 she has been taking part in the University of Chichester's Creative Writing MA programme.

 

Living in the south of England, Jacqui is married with two children and one dog, and uses the time everyone else is out of the house to juggle creative writing, studying, dog walking and, reluctantly, the housework.

Poetry

 

A number of Jacqui’s poems have appeared in First Edition magazine: the sonnet Nothing But the Best is Good Enough in July 2009 (Issue 5), and the humorous Mr & Mrs S Claus and Ned’s Christmas Letter in March 2010 (Issue 10).   

 

Shakespearean Sky Sonnet was published in Poetica Victorian (Volume 1, Issue 2) during the autumn of 2011.

 

Six of Jacqui's poems, Grapefruit, Secundigravida, Martyr, True Love, Mother Goose and Versification, were published during 2013 by Strong Verse.

 

From The Church of Oulipo, an experimental prose poem, was featured in Synaesthesia's Nonsense themed issue, published in February 2014.

 

 

 

Short Stories

 

In November 2009 The Snow Bride was illustrated and featured in New Fairy Tales (Issue 4), while Long Story Short chose The Lure of the Sea as their Story of the Month, later selecting it as their Story of the Year for 2009.

 

2010 saw the publication of two more of Jacqui’s short stories, The Last Days of Winter by The Pygmy Giant and Playback by Bewildering Stories, as well as her Flash Fiction, Shadow of the Highway, by literary website Metazen. 

 

In January 2011 the micro fiction Shaun was featured in the Winter 2011 edition of The New Writer magazine (Issue 105).

   

Fiction on the Web selected Jacqui's short story Amethyst Cloud as the editor's Pick of the Month in September 2013 and her flash fiction Love? was featured by Paragraph Planet on 7th October 2013.

 

In February 2014 Jacqui's story, Edgware Road, was named among the winners of The London Magazine's Southern Universities Short Story Competition.  An ebook, featuring all the winning stories, is currently being put together.

 

 

 

In addition, the short stories Playback and The Snow Bride, together with the previously unpublished Promises and Obligations and Sidney Deller, are currently available to download from Alfie Dog Fiction.
